Commercials- behind the scenes

Have you ever wondered how a commercial is done? What goes into a production of a 30 sec ad?

these are behind the scenes photos from the Doritos commercial I put together in record time. (the commercial's link is at the bottom of the page, check it out, share it)

Talking about it and actually doing it, will take some energy, some say passion and/or craziness.
But, many are doing it ;)

famous filmmakers started out making commercials

First coming out it the idea and then tamed it down to a "do-able" state can be a challenge.

Some go under the wing of the "elders" in the industry and learn on the job, or read intro to making commercials.

After getting the idea "do-able", think faces. who you want to represent your concept.

Finding actors in less than 12 hrs before shoot time kept me sleepless the night before.

I "saw" what I want, now I needed to get my actors to be available.
Calling, emailing, texting back and forth can be nerve wrecking.

don't do "your norm"

I enjoy working with individuals I know I can rely on.
Getting on set on time- is a big factor.
Coming with the correct wardrobe, helps ;)

aaand.... with the right attitude, can make the producer's/director's sanity stay intact.

I am learning to communicate better. :P I usually blame it on my accent. However, I know my areas that need improvement. Communicating correctly, blocking my actors, getting them to transform, and get into character- is an art!

CHECK OUT FUNNY PLATES and SHARE IT :)
for now, enjoy the sites, and the commercial. ttys more about commercials.

Cameras to choose or just rent? with Bivas Biswas

Filmmaker of the year- Bivas Biswas is recommending a camera that is somewhat affordable depending what you have in mind to use it for.  Bivas Biswas'   blog-

If you have a unconventional temper, where you just get up and start shooting, might as well go buy one.

If you like to plan and prepare months in advance a shoot, then you can easily rent.

Each version chosen has ups and downs. Which works for you?

check this cool cat's work  here   Bivas' IMDB

and this pic!  -------->
                                        just stunning

He can morph in many characters as well. He can act! Recently he's been taking IMPROV classes and practiced his foreign accents. He spoke to me in Russian accent and I could've sworn he was a national.  ya! That good! :)
Here, with Diane G. Dresback another amazing filmmaker, whom I've had the pleasure to work with.  check future posts- on her ;)

Banned and love it! film style

if there is a will there's a way...

" a dolly shot"
     "a crane"
                "ND"
                "intentional"
                          "crossing"

besides all those names- who cares what they mean, and yet, knowing them, is the reason you are still on the payroll. ;)

Dolly, I thought we were going to talk about Dolly Parton

and a "Crane" is we are going to the Japanese Zoo

ND filters- I thought we were talking about INDIE, independent filters... HUH?!

and so on... here some sugar coated advice:

LEARN THE DAMMED LINGO before you get on set. No matter what your job will be on set, just be familiar w these! PLEASE!

Now, for the ladies- here is a hunk talking :)

- a 50 mm lens 1.4.

- an external battery grip. (lenghtens the battery time to a double time)

Hurt

Someone who needed caressing I pushed away, because my mind was battling with my heart.

My head hurts and my ears are closed off. I've sewn my mouth, so my thoughts only can reach who is needed. No more pain. I am immune. As I stand in front of the wall, my hands shoulder width apart, my palms are touching the cold white wall. My forehead is repeatedly hitting the wall. I feel a hand on the back of my neck pushing me to do it, but I know I am alone in the room. My eyes are closed as there were too many lights pointed at me. I stop and feel my forehead that is wet and warm.

I turn away and my knees are weak; so I let the my back slide down the wall. I am sitting on the floor. my hands are catching my head as it falls forward. I try to take a deep breath, but my ribs, don't allow that. I feel pressure from one side. I try to open my eyes and warm liquid, slowly falling down my face, is covering my eyes.

I smell blood. My fingers' have became sticky. I wipe my face, and my eyes with my t-shirt. Blood from my forehead is rolling down my face...
Why am I not surprised? I look up on the wall, and a big splash mark of fresh blood is where my head was...

Someone who needed caressing I pushed away, because my mind was battling with my heart. I can be so stupid sometimes...
